About

  • My Story

I am Maria, a designer working on identity design and creative direction. I come from and currently live in Greece, where I work independently from my home, which also serves as my workplace.

Although my experience as a full-time independent designer started in 2023, my experience with design began in 2019. In my hometown, Thessaloniki, I completed my studies in Applied Informatics. During my last year of studying, my curiosity led me to graphic design, which I began teaching myself consistently, quietly, and seriously.

Two years later, having gained some corporate experience in digital marketing and sales, I moved to Nijmegen, the Netherlands, to study Marketing for a year, get my Master’s degree, enjoy the experience of living in another country, and find new inspiration. After that year, it was clear to me that my only interest is design and the arts, for which I had been preparing myself for a long time.

After 4 years of balancing responsibilities between freelancing and a second job, I got the opportunity to switch to a solo career and follow my passion: design.

My design approach is always through branding. This means that my goal is to understand, feature, and strengthen the unique character and personality of every brand with every project. Thus, I believe it is necessary to have a close and transparent collaboration with the people I work with, because it is their identity that has to be reflected in the design.

What I love most about my work is the endless opportunities. As Massimo Vignelli said, “If you can design one thing, you can design everything.” Keeping those words close to my heart I am happy to dedicate my energy, passion, and creativity to any project, as soon as it is interesting and exciting. Thus, my experience includes a wide range of cases, with a focus on visual identity and branding.

For me, art, design, and beauty are necessary to humanity. They enrich our souls, our world, and make our daily life beautiful. So is creativity. Therefore, I feel that being a designer is a privilege. We bring creativity and joy close to people, and we have the opportunity to secretly witness people become children again—live and express all the rich and beautiful feelings that creativity awakes within us.

My greatest inspiration is life itself: places, experiences, people. I enjoy exploring the creativity of everyday life, collecting ideas, storing them somewhere in my mind until I find the right opportunity to use them and solve a problem. Inspiration and ideas are never enough. Thus, there is a solution to every problem. We only have to look for it.

  • Approach

My approach to design is human-centered, combining visual communication and conceptual art. Through my work, I strive to communicate ideas and concepts. Every project is not just a brief, but an opportunity to understand and express something greater through the visual language. Thus, for me, every creative collaboration is a form of co-creation and is not the typical designer/client dynamic.

My work can be described as identity design. Borrowing the style and personality of a brand (or the people behind it), I help it communicate something to the world. This can take any form: from packaging, to poster, to Instagram post, to sketches. It doesn’t matter what form it takes. Everything starts with an intention, an idea, a concept — something that needs to be expressed.
